Octav Paul
|
He has his first encounters with electronic music in 1999 when enjoying underground music sets (progressive and progressive-house). A lot of those mixes are recorded by Paul, in order for him to listen again and analyze the tracks’ compositions and structures. Two years later, he starts working with music production software, such as “Fruityloops” and “Soundforge”. High-school friend Kosak helps Octav to gather musical experience when working with “Reason” or “ReCycle”, and during this time Paul also experiments with professional music production equipment (sequencers, synthesizers, samplers, compressors and equalizers). His knowledge is channeled into producing a track for the international electronic music contest “Heineken Thirst”. This is followed by the launch of Octav’s first EP – “Hey !” (with four songs presented : “Hey”, “Visiting Bukkarest”, “City Lights” and “Moody Nights”. The first two tracks are characterized by a “main” flavor, while the last two have a “deep” texture). At the end of 2008, Paul releases his second EP – “Night Shift” – containing “Fast Nights”, “Hijacking Trains”, “What is What” and “Visiting Bukkarest” (5 AM edit). The first track on his release receives a bronze crown in Pete Tong’s show “Fast Trax”. |
